Sir Doom and I went for the musical at the Ford Centre in Chicago on Sunday evening. We had booked tickets the previous weekend. The theatre was built in 1924 and looks somewhat like the insides of a Kannada movie cinema in Majestic. Well ‘somewhat’ bcos of the decor, but its maintained much better
The show began promptly at 7:30 pm and it went on for 2hrs and 45 mins of total fun. There was a story about a girl who was getting married trying to find her lost father and all the songs were woven into the story – Honey Honey, Mamma Mia, Voulez Vous, I have a dream, Dancing Queen, Chiquitita and 20 more. Amazing production quality and extremely enjoyable.
We did have to brave the elements for the short walk to the theatre and back in -11C windy weather. Since Paul and me had already made te much longer trek to church in the evening, I was getting used to the cold, but our man from Austin had bravely come to Chicago without a scarf or hat. Lucky Paul provided him with them, else it would have been GAME OVER for him.
We followed up the show with Office Space at Paul’s apartment. I then returned to my hotel a short walk away where I managed to get the wireless LAN connected and am therefore typing this up…
